Penis Enhancement Now Available at Ocean Clinic Marbella

Ocean Clinic Marbella is delighted to announce the addition of a new treatment for men - penis enhancement.

Dr. Kästner
The procedure, which can offer male patients an increase in both penis length and thickness, is offered by Doctor Sonja Kästner.  We asked her to tell us all about it...

Why has Ocean Clinic decided to add penis enhancements to its list of treatments?

The idea to bring penis enhancement surgery to Marbella results from my work in Germany in the Praxisklinik am Rosengarten in Cologne. I work there two weeks per month alongside Doctor Timo Spanholtz. He has specialised in penis enhancements for years and has now trained me in the procedure.

Penis enhancement seems to be big trend. We’ve seen a rise in operations and we’re now doing it two to three times weekly. Here, in the Costa del Sol region, there is nobody offering this procedure and we think there might be some demand. I’m pleased to be able to bring my experience in penis enhancement to Marbella.

What are the modern techniques for carrying out a penis enhancement?

There are different techniques; you could work with a silicon prosthesis but if avoidable I would rather not use a prosthesis because this can cause a lot of problems. What we mostly do is a combination of a penis enlargement to increase the length and a fat transfer to augment the thickness.

The penis enlargement is done by cutting the ligament that pins the penis to the pelvic bone. The erectile tissue is attached to the pelvic bone through that ligament. Due to this, one to four centimetres are hidden inside the body. If you cut this ligament you can pull the penis out and gain length.

Unfortunately you can’t promise the patient if it will be four centimetres or, if in his case, it will be only one centimetre. This is because you can’t examine it before the operation; the only way is to open up the area. However, in some cases you really can gain as much as four centimeters in length.

Are there any side effects of cutting the ligament?

Not to the function of the penis or the erectile tissue because the nerves are really far away from where you cut. The only thing that happens is the penis, which normally in the erect state stands up at around 150 degrees, won’t come up as high; 90 degrees at the most. You can often see this in the porn industry because there are a lot of men who have already had it done and you will notice the penis doesn’t come up as high.

How do you augment the thickness of the penis?

We use liposuction to take fat from wherever you have it, perhaps your love handles. Then we can inject between 20 to 50 millilitres directly under the skin of the penis, around the shaft. The results here are more foreseeable; you can gain one to two centimetres of extra girth. It works well.

You can also do a fat transfer to the glans penis (head of the penis) and then it appears fuller and a little bit enhardened.

It’s better to use your own fat rather than a synthetic filler because it’s entirely natural and will also provide a permanent change - whereas fillers are eventually absorbed into the body, fat that gains a blood supply will become permanent tissue.

Are there scars left on the penis after penis enhancement?

Not directly on the penis as the fat transfer doesn’t leave any scars. In the region of the pelvic zone there is an incision made across the pubic area of 2.5-3 cms, which is closed with dissolvable stitches. Normally that area heals pretty well, however it is a hairy area so you can hide it the scar if you want.

Is penis enhancement a painful procedure?

No it’s not. You have to really take care of yourself for a week afterwards because there is a risk of haematoma, which can then be painful but the procedure itself is not painful. What you should keep in mind however, is that the penis enhancement is not done with only the operation. You also need to wear a vacuum suction device called a PeniMaster.

Scar tissue needs six weeks to be stable so you should wear this device during this period to keep the length we gained during the operations. The longer you can wear it each day, the better but the minimum is two hours in the morning and two hours in the evening. Alternatively, you can put it on during the night and sleep wearing it.

Do patients stay overnight in the clinic following penis enhancement?

It is not a necessity but I would like it. Because patients don’t feel much pain following the operation they tend to do too many things. While penis enhancement is a relatively straightforward and low risk operation, if patients don’t rest afterwards there is a higher risk of bleeding.

Does recovery from a penis enhancement inhibit a patient’s ability to urinate? When can they engage in sexual activity again?

Patients are able to urinate normally immediately afterwards. In terms of resuming sexual activity, the wound must be stable and dry so it’s advisable to wait four weeks, better six.

How worthwhile is penis enhancement surgery? Will the patient be able to notice a difference?

The patient satisfaction is really high for the procedure. The only thing you have to keep in mind is we can’t promise you in advance the length you will gain. On average it is 2.3 centimetres as a long term result.

Before the operation, you need to ask yourself if it’s the flaccid appearance of your penis you wish to change or if it’s the erect appearance. This is the best operation to change the outer appearance of the non-erect penis.

If the penis is erect you might not have such a big difference but if you are self-conscious about the size of your penis when you’re at the sauna or in the changing rooms, this can provide a noticeable change.

What is the age range of patients requesting penis enhancement surgery?

It’s really surprising; we have patients between 18 and 75 - there seems to be no age limit for the wish to change something about oneself. What is also surprising is that most patients we see have average size penises; they are not especially poorly endowed they just want a bit more. In Spain the average erect penis size is 14 cms (5.5 inches).

How much does penis enhancement surgery cost in Spain?

The enlargement surgery is around €3,800 and the fat transfer is around €2800, plus costs for the anesthesia.

Science Identifies "Ideal" Female Lip Shape

Do you have a perfect pout? Scientists claim to have finally nailed down the ideal female lip proportions - the bottom lip should be twice the size of the top one.

Researchers at the University of California in America asked groups of men and women to assess the attractiveness of 160 pictures of white women’s faces. They found that a 1:2 ratio of upper to lower lip was considered the most attractive by both sexes.

Ideally, the lips should make up about 10% of the lower third of the face. For those considering lip fillers, these findings should be adhered to in order to preserve a natural look.

If you’ve ever seen someone with “fake” looking lips it’s because they’ve broken the golden rules of ratio and proportion. Women who increase the size of their lips by more than 50% risk leaving their face looking out of proportion. Meanwhile, those who overfill their upper lip will create an artificial, “duckbill” appearance.

The authors of the study concluded: “We advocate preservation of the natural ratio or achieving a one to two ratio in lip augmentation procedures while avoiding the overfilled upper lip look frequently seen among celebrities.”

The Cupid’s bow

To be considered truly attractive, lips must not only be full, but also shapely. As one London-based doctor, Dr Tijion Esho, points out, the 1:2 ratio should not extend the entire width of the lips. The perfect lips will have a 1:1 ratio in the outer corners - plus an accentuated philtrum, or Cupid’s bow.

To create a really sensual look, the bottom lip should be plump in the centre while the top lip should be “dipped low” in the middle, like can be seen in Angelina Jolie’s famous pout. The shape can be achieved during lip augmentation by careful placement of small droplets of lip filler.

Why are full lips attractive?

Just like a high hip-to-waist ratio in a woman signals strong mating potential, full lips are also thought to indicate fertility. This is because lips lose volume and narrow as women age, therefore full lips are associated with youthfulness. Maximum lip thickness is reached in girls at age 14, from which point they gradually decrease in size.

Additionally full lips are linked to sexual arousal. Lips, like other sexual organs, engorge with blood leading to increased fullness and redness. The effect is mimicked by lipstick, which is why women have been painting their lips for centuries (dating back to the Ancient Egyptians).

A study, carried out at Manchester University in the UK, found a woman’s lips are the most attractive part of her body - especially if she’s wearing lipstick. The study involved tracking the eye movements of 50 men as they were presented with images of different women.

When the women wore lipstick, the men gazed at their lips for an average of seven seconds – spending just 0.95 seconds looking at their eyes and 0.85 seconds studying their hair. Red lipstick held them captivated for the longest time - an average of 7.3 seconds.

How do your lips measure up?

Despite the identification of the “perfect” measurements for lips, those with lips that don’t meet the criteria should not despair.  As the researchers from the University of California point out, the overall attractiveness of a face comes from more than the lips.

Looking at models in Vogue over the past 50 years, they found, on average, the women did not meet the 1:2 ratio, instead having bottom lips only 47% larger than the top.

In addition, the study at Manchester University found while full lips were deemed to be the most attractive, the appeal of thin lips increased by more than 40% after lipstick had been applied.

It just goes to show, with a flattering lipstick, it’s easy to make the most of what you’ve got! However, if you’d like to enhance your lip size or shape, modern fillers offer a good option.

New formulations that last longer and look more natural, combined with a greater understanding of lip aesthetics and advanced surgical techniques, mean a beautiful pout can be yours.

Breast Reduction - Your Questions Answered

While many women dream of having bigger breasts, for others big boobs can be a curse.

If you suffer with back or neck pain, struggle finding clothes that fit or experience discomfort when exercising, then a breast reduction could be the solution you’re looking for.

We understand, however, that having elective surgery is a big decision and you will have lots of questions. The surgeons at Ocean Clinic Marbella have extensive experience of breast surgery and we invite you to make an appointment for a free consultation to have all your questions answered.

In the meantime, here are answers to some commonly asked questions to help you in making your decision to have a breast reduction.

Should you wait until you’ve finished having kids before having a breast reduction?

If your breasts are causing you severe pain or discomfort, a breast reduction can bring you great relief - waiting until after you’ve completed your family will only extend your suffering. It’s worth noting that your breasts will increase in size during pregnancy, further exacerbating your symptoms.

However, because having a breast reduction may impair your ability to breastfeed you must weigh up the benefits of having smaller, more manageable breasts versus possibly having to formula feed your baby.

It’s also possible that you will require secondary breast surgery following pregnancy (if your breasts have significantly increased in size or changed in shape). For this reason, if it is purely for aesthetic reasons you are seeking a breast reduction, then it is better to wait until after having children to avoid revision surgery.

Will I be able to breastfeed following a breast reduction?

There is a risk of reduced ability to breastfeed with breast reduction surgery, however it can be greatly reduced by leaving the nipple and areola area still attached to the breast tissue beneath.

The experience of your surgeon will make a big difference to the amount of nerve damage sustained. Nerves are vital to breastfeeding because they trigger the release of prolactin and oxytocin, two hormones that affect milk production and letdown.

It is advisable to wait at least 18-months after having a breast reduction before becoming pregnant, giving your nerves time to recover and for full sensation to return.

How old do you have to be to have a breast reduction?

It is best to wait until you are at least 18 before having breast reduction surgery to be sure your breasts have finished developing. However, we understand there are many younger teenagers with breasts that are causing them extreme discomfort and psychological distress.

At Ocean Clinic Marbella we assess the suitability of each patient on a case-by-case basis, regardless of age. Breast reduction surgery can be an excellent option for some younger patients. However, it’s important to understand that further surgery may be necessary in the future, if the breasts were to grow in size again.

Can asymmetric breasts be corrected through breast reduction?

The breasts can be made more symmetric as part of breast reduction surgery. This is achieved by reducing each breast by a different amount. The shape of the nipple-areola complex can also be made symmetric at the same time.
However, absolute breast symmetry should not be expected with any type of breast surgery. There are many factors which may contribute to asymmetry, such as your rib cage, which can not be treated with a breast reduction.

Should I lose weight before having a breast reduction?

Ideally you should wait until you reach your goal weight before having breast reduction surgery. This will give you your best aesthetic result, since losing weight after your surgery could leave you with saggy breasts and/or loose breast skin.

That being said, many large breasted women find it too difficult to exercise, which inhibits their ability to lose weight. If you are unable to be properly active because of your chest size, then it makes sense to have a breast reduction sooner rather than later.

Can a breast reduction be done by liposuction alone?

Breast reduction can be carried out via liposuction alone but it is only suitable for a select group of patients. Your suitability for this procedure will depend on the amount of reduction you desire, how much sagging you have and the quality of your skin.

It is ideal for younger patients who only wish to go down one or two cup sizes. Younger people tend to have better skin tone meaning they will enjoy better retraction. Reduction via liposuction can provide these patients with good results without any scarring.

Liposuction will not provide pleasing aesthetic results for patients with a significant amount of ptosis, however it can be useful for reducing weight to alleviate back and neck pain.

What scars will I have following breast reduction?

There are two main techniques for carrying out breast reduction surgery. The Lejour, used for moderately heavy breasts, involves making an incision vertically from the base of the breast, up to and around the nipple (it mimics the shape of a lollypop).

The second technique, Hall-Findlay, is used for very heavy breasts or those with pronounced sagging, and involves an anchor-shaped scar. The incision goes around the nipple, extends from the nipple down to the base of the breast and then in the breast fold itself.

Scarring will be pink for a number of months but should eventually fade to become unnoticeable.

Will my nipples be cut off during breast reduction?

Usually the nipples remain attached to the breast tissue beneath (the pedicle technique) and simply moved to a higher position. Free nipple graft (complete detachment) is only necessary for extremely large breasts or very low nipples.

This technique is avoided where possible because the nipple areolar complex loses its blood supply. This results in loss of sensation and projection as well as loss of pigment. The nipple becomes either deep pink for darker skin types or pale pink for lighter skinned individuals.

Will a breast reduction correct sagging breasts?

A breast reduction alone will not correct sagging breasts. If you are suffering with breast ptosis (sagging) as well as excess breast tissue, it’s likely that your surgeon will recommend you have a breast lift in combination with your reduction.

The lift moves your breast tissue higher on the chest wall and firms up your breasts, giving them a more youthful look. The breast lift is carried out using the same incisions so there is no additional scarring. Liposuction may also be used as part of your breast surgery to sculpt your breasts into a pleasing final shape.

Are you under local or general anesthetic for a breast reduction?

Breast reduction surgery is performed under general anesthesia. With this type of anesthesia the patient is completely unconscious during the procedure and will stay overnight in the clinic.

A liposuction-only breast reduction can be performed on an outpatient basis, with sedation (twilight sleep) plus local anesthetic.

How painful is breast reduction?

Because breast reduction only deals with skin and fat (not muscle or bone) it is one of the least painful procedures. Most patents have some discomfort for a few days only but rarely true pain.

Women are usually so happy to have the extra weight off their breasts that the minor pain from the incisions is a welcome trade off.

How much does a breast reduction in Spain cost?

The cost of breast reduction surgery in Spain is usually in the region of €5,000 to €6,500.
